5.5 days of audio, clipped by chance to document a design student experience.
By the last semester of college, I had amassed interviews, portfolio reviews, design lectures, and pivotal critiques that totaled 5.5 days, which is 172 hours, or 7920 minutes. This bank of audio became the content of my senior thesis project.
Using a mathematic equation, this total was clipped into approximately 30 minutes of 6 and 12 second bits of audio. The voices recorded were each given a symbolic shape, that could be layered atop one another, to show multiple speakers. Each clip was also assigned an image, taken from the image collection phase of the project in which it references, to render each clip visibly and audibly.
Every experience of this collection is unique; the ‘listen path’ is determined by the spontaneous click decisions that each viewer makes.
